JevTube is a Chrome extension that hides or blurs YouTube videos matching topics you choose.
What JevTube processes
- Video titles and channel names shown on YouTube pages you visit (Home feed, search results, the "Up next" list on watch pages, Shorts shelf). These are sent to our server (
jevtube-proxy.jevtube.workers.dev) so the Jev model (TypeSafe AI) can decide whether each video matches your filters.
- Public video IDs of those same videos. Our server uses them to look up each video's public description, tags and category through the YouTube API Services (YouTube Data API v3), and sends the start of that public text to the Jev model together with the title. No YouTube account data is requested and no Google sign-in is used.
- Your filters and settings (topics you typed, blur/hide method, sensitivity, theme). Stored in your browser via Chrome's storage, and synced across your Chrome profile if Chrome sync is on.
- The names of channels you subscribe to, when "Skip channels I subscribe to" is on (the default). JevTube asks YouTube for this list from the YouTube page itself, keeps it in your browser's local storage for one day, and never sends it to our server. Videos from these channels are left alone and are not sent for judgement.
- An anonymous install ID (a random identifier created on first run) used to apply the free daily limit and, shortened to its first 8 characters, to keep a daily count of judged videos per install for usage statistics. It is not linked to your Google account or any personal information.
What JevTube does not do
- No account, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No browsing history, no watch history, no personal data.
- Video titles, IDs and descriptions are processed to answer your filters and are not stored on our server after the response is returned. The server keeps only daily counters: requests per install for the free limit, and, for usage statistics, the first 8 characters of the install ID with the number of videos judged that day.
- When the extension is first installed, it sends the anonymous install ID to the server once so installs can be counted per day; the server keeps the first 8 characters with the date. When you remove the extension, Chrome opens a goodbye page on our website (jevtube.vercel.app/bye), which is counted like any other page view.
- Nothing is sold or shared with third parties beyond the model provider (TypeSafe AI) that receives the title and description text for judgement, and Google (YouTube Data API), which receives the public video IDs looked up. The server runs on Cloudflare Workers, which processes requests as our hosting provider.
- No advertising, no profiling, no use for creditworthiness or lending.
The JevTube website
The site jevtube.vercel.app counts page views and Add to Chrome clicks (page, button, day). It sets no cookies and records no IP address or identifier.
